How to Prepare CAD Drawings for a Silicone Quote

A quotation is only as accurate as the information behind it. A clean drawing package helps Silicone Nest understand the part, recommend a process and return a more useful custom silicone quote.

Build the file set

Send a dimensioned PDF for quick review and a STEP/STP or DWG file for geometry. Name files with the project and revision, for example project-part-revA.step. Include an assembly view or reference image if the part must fit with other components.

Mark the important dimensions

  • Overall dimensions and critical interfaces
  • Tolerances for sealing, snap-fit and assembly features
  • Wall thickness, draft and parting-line expectations
  • Cosmetic faces, texture and logo areas
  • Flash, trim and inspection requirements

If a dimension is flexible, state the acceptable range. That distinction helps the process review focus on what affects function and cost.

Add material and quality requirements

State target hardness, color, finish, temperature exposure, cleaning and contact conditions. If an FDA-related material option is required, identify the intended use and documentation needed. Also include expected quantity; Silicone Nest typically works from an MOQ of 3,000 pieces.

Use the confidential upload form

The secure form accepts PDF, STEP/STP and DWG. You can upload up to 5 files, 5 MB each, with a 25 MB total limit. Files are confidential, available only to the administrator at info@siliconenest.com, and retained for 30 days.

After review, sampling is approximately 7 days. Batch production is approximately 15 days after sample approval and order confirmation.

FAQ

Can I upload only a PDF?

Yes. A PDF is enough to start a discussion, although a CAD file usually makes geometry review more efficient.

What if my files exceed 25 MB?

Split the package into the most relevant files or contact info@siliconenest.com for guidance before sending confidential material.
